Fertility Acupuncture
For the cycles that ask everything of you.
YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING HARD.
IVF and IUI are demanding in a way that people who have not been through them do not understand. The injections. The monitoring appointments before work. The waiting. The way your whole life reorganizes around a calendar you did not choose.
You are managing medications, hormones, appointments, and a level of uncertainty that can be difficult to hold. And you are supposed to stay calm through all of it.
I am not here to fix you. I am here to support you through this.
WHAT ACUPUNCTURE DOES DURING FERTILITY TREATMENT
Let me be direct about this, because the internet is not.
The research on whether acupuncture improves IVF or IUI success rates is genuinely mixed. Some studies find benefit. Others find none. Anyone who tells you it will get you pregnant is telling you something the evidence does not support, and you deserve better than that.
Here is what acupuncture does well, and what the research supports much more clearly.
It reduces stress.
Fertility treatment activates the nervous system for months at a time. Acupuncture regulates it. This is the most consistent finding in the literature and the most reliable thing I can offer you.
It supports sleep.
Sleep is often the first thing to go during a cycle, and the thing that makes everything else harder.
It eases medication side effects.
Nausea. Headaches. Bloating. Mood swings. Ovarian hyperstimulation discomfort. Acupuncture is well established for many of these.
TIMING AND CADENCE
Before your procedure.
Weekly or twice weekly acupuncture leading up to egg retrieval, embryo transfer, or IUI. I recommend beginning anywhere from four weeks to three months beforehand, depending on your timeline and how much runway we have.
More time is better. If you are three months out, we can do meaningful work on stress, sleep, and cycle regulation before the intensity begins. If you are four weeks out, we work with what we have.
After your transfer or IUI.
Weekly or twice weekly acupuncture for at least the first two weeks. These are among the hardest days of the entire process. You have done everything you can do, and now there is nothing to do but wait. Acupuncture during this window supports your nervous system through the waiting. It gives you somewhere to be, and someone to be with, while you find out.
WORKING ALONGSIDE YOUR CLINIC
I do not replace your reproductive endocrinologist. I work alongside them.
I follow your cycle calendar. I know what is happening in each phase and when treatment is most useful. If your protocol changes, we change with it.
Bring me your schedule and I will build around it.
IVF
During stimulation. Weekly or twice weekly sessions while you are on medications. This is when side effects peak and when your nervous system takes the hardest hit.
Around retrieval. Support before, and recovery after.
Around transfer. Sessions timed close to your transfer, before and after.
The two week wait. Weekly or twice weekly sessions through the waiting.
IUI
IUI cycles move faster and carry their own particular tension.
Before the cycle. Four weeks to three months of preparation if we have the time. Sessions focused on stress, sleep, and cycle regulation.
During monitoring. Weekly or twice weekly sessions as you track ovulation.
Around insemination. Sessions before and after, timed to your procedure.
The wait. At least two weeks of support.
IF YOU ARE TRYING WITHOUT MEDICAL INTERVENTION
You are welcome here too. Not everyone trying to conceive is doing IVF or IUI, and not everyone will.
Acupuncture supports cycle regulation, stress, sleep, and the physical and emotional toll of trying month after month. The same care applies.
WHOEVER YOU ARE, WHOEVER YOU ARE BUILDING A FAMILY WITH
Single parents by choice. Same sex couples. Trans and nonbinary people navigating fertility treatment. People using donor gametes. People carrying for someone else. People on their first cycle and people on their sixth.
Weight, identity, gender expression, and life stage are never barriers to high quality care here.
You do not have to explain your family to me before I will treat you.
